Scarlett at the castle by Solitairemiles Scarlett at the castle by Solitairemiles
Scarlett O'Hara, in the poorly written sequel to "Gone With the Wind", titled "Scarlett", leaves Rhett Butler and flees with thier unborn daughter to Ireland, where she later is courted by an English noble who lives in a castle, and becomes engaged to marry him. I loved this castle stock by [link]
and wanted to do something with it, and this old set painting of Scarlett fit right into it. This painting of her is the one you see on Rhett's mantlepiece in the movie and I found it on a Yahoo search. The rug, chair and armour are from personal stock, as is the texture.
I did this with Hemali's Gone With the Wind group on Flickr in mind.

Ah, beautiful. Gone with the Wind is wonderful. I've only seen the movie, but I'm planning on reading the book as well. I loved the painting in the movie, although it was shown for only a couple of secs, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it here!

Thanks, it's a real painting, it's the one that was over the fireplace in Rhetts study in the movie. You see it when he is waiting for Bonnie to be born.

She is rather imperious looking in that portrait. It's a good thing that Rhett came back after all!

I would never have known you’d added the suit of armour and chair if I hadn’t checked the original castle stock (as well as the crest/crown addition above Scarlett’s head which adds a certain cachet) – great cover-ups for the two original rectangles behind them. Beautifully blended, lovely composition. Nice subtle texture too. From the expression on Scarlett’s face, she looks more like the one about to say “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn!") rather than Rhett… :D I haven't read the sequel, but I read the original book and saw the movie four times (I’m a sucker for period pieces).

It was fun furnishing the room. When I put just Scarlett in there, the room seemed a little barren. I thought I would posh it up a bit. Thank you.

I love "Gone with the wind" too!!! I have the movie, the book and the sequel...
I think Vivien Leigh was such a fine artist....
And Clark Gable's Rett can never be better (hated the Rett in the sequel's tvfilm....)
Your creation is lovely!
