Night and Dreams

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 16, 2009, 8:08 PM
Nacht und Traume

I recorded a Schubert lieder, "Nacht und Traume" or "Night and Dreams" as an experiment with jazz musicians Willie Pickens on piano and Von Freeman on sax, several years ago. It's been collecting dust "in the can" so I decided to add it to this beautiful slideshow of dream-themed Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist artworks. You can enjoy it here-

Listen to excerpts from my new CD, and become a part of My Music

This time I want to do it on my own. No label, indie all the way. Armed with some wonderful new arrangements, I have lined up Chicago's best musicians and guest artists, including Willie Pickens, Paulinho Garcia, Art Davis, Jim Gailloreto, and Neal Alger, to name a few. My new record has been in production for several months, and is completely recorded, with the exception of some dubbing and tweaking here and there, but I am almost out of funds which we still need for mixing, printing, and promotion. I need donations of around $5,000, so please help, and become a part of my new album in in exchange for some wonderful gifts and services. I promise to make a first rate and unique record with your support. Donators will receive prints of my artwork, signed CD's and much more, check here for details solitairemiles.com/donateCD

Wouldn't you rather invest in the original work of creative musicians who actually conceive the art, than support superficial mega-corporations? The time has come when we need to support independent musicians, and not the Corporate Big Brother's of the music industry, or of any industries for that matter. Fight Big Box, pre-programmed, mediocre music and support indie artists like Me. I realize that times are tough right now for everyone, and as a musician and artist working in Chicago I am still trying to produce new, authentic jazz.. Thank You in advance for any help you may be able to provide...

I also host an art and music podcast on itunes and Blog Talk Radio called "Tones" where I have interviewed several dA members, :iconarcheon: :iconkayceeus: :iconsophquest: :iconautumngoddess: You can download the interviews on itunes or listen to them here [link]

Support Stock Artists

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 1, 2009, 10:22 AM
Please support the wonderful stock artists here on dA, they are the backbone of our community and our work. Stock art is the inspiration for many of us here, and their work is just as much a part of our creations, then the work we do ourselves. dA would not be as valuable a community without them, so if a Model stock artist needs help paying for costumes, please chip in. Most of them allow us to use their stock for free, and it takes alot of work and investment to create good stock that inspires the rest of us to work with. Many of them allow us to use their beautiful work for free, even commercially, I know that I do on my stock account :iconsolstock:. I don't do model shoots that require expensive costumes, so I don't need any help keeping my account going, but there are many stock artists that spend lots of money on costumes and props so that we can have beautiful, creative images to become inspired by.
So please be supportive and generous to our stock providers. Afterall, we are a community and we have to keep each other going.

Je Ne T'aime Pas

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 28, 2009, 12:30 PM
I created a new slideshow with a song I recorded with violinist Johnny Frigo "Je Ne T'aime Pas" which was penned by Kurt Weill. It is accompanied by artwork. Enjoy.
